Kirklees Council have called upon Ornate Interiors to assist in the restoration of the magnificent Huddersfield Town Hall. Kirklees Council are no stranger to Ornate Interiors, having commissioned our in depth Advisory Reports for three other town halls in Batley, Dewsbury and Cleckheaton.
Working alongside Strategic Team Group, the chosen contractors of Kirklees Council, our team of craftsmen have been involved in reinstating many of the fine decorative features that adorn several rooms and corridors of this splendid venue, which now also serves as the town’s concert hall.
The first phase of works focussed on Meeting Rooms 2 and 3, and the ornate stairwell ceilings. After carrying out a full Advisory Report, the Ornate Interiors team set about repairing the many cracks and previous poor quality repairs in the meeting room ceilings. The mouldings had been cut out in some areas to accommodate conduits and cables, and many enrichments were missing or damaged. A profile of the original cornice was made and new sections were manufactured to replace the damaged areas, before a total of 130 pieces of floral enrichment were bedded in.
